The double scar structures on this sigillaria _specimen are the result of partial erosion (decortication) of the trunk. Sigillaria specimens of this type are assigned to the form genus syringodendron.

 

Location: Nicholas County, West Virginia; W & G Surface Mine, formerly Hobet Mining Surface Mine, about 10 miles north of Summersville, just east of Route 19.
